Special care has to be taken for the diabetic people as their blood sugar level has to be maintained on regular basis. This can be achieved by the use of medicines, proper diet intake and exercise. People with diabetics have to understand that diabetic menu plans should have all the necessary food needed for healthy diet in moderation. The diabetic menu plans should be planned in such a way that not only the food intake is nutritious and healthy but also the meal timings should be properly scheduled. This is important as proper intake of food at the right time can easily help maintain the necessary blood sugar level in the diabetic person. The food pyramid suggested for the diabetic can help decide the best ingredients in menu plan for the diabetic. The lower most level of the pyramid consists of the grains such as wheat, rye, and oats, is the largest category of the pyramid. The second layer is of the fruits and vegetables. The menu plan can include fruits in small servings depending upon the type of fruit whether it is a calorie rich fruit or not. Moreover low fat and high nutrients value makes the vegetables a must in the diabetic menu plans. And the third layer consists of the non vegetarian food like the lean meat with maximum exclusion of fat and cooked either by grilling or baking. The fourth category is of the high-calorie items whose intake should be as lower as possible. Like butter, dairy products, and all other fat-rich substances. Other than that the diabetic menu plan should include plenty of water intake. Minimum eight glasses of water intake is considered good for the body. And be sparing with alcohol that you drink and even if you have to drink better have it with meal rather than empty stomach.
