Vegetables for diabetic menu-A necessary & important part

Vegetables are an essential part of our meal which provides many vital proteins and vitamins and also, not to forget, fiber. There are vegetables for diabetic menu which should be included mandatorily in the meal. Being diabetic does not mean that we have to ignore the intake of vegetables because they are the source of energy for our body. The individuals must be highly aware of the right kind of food items which is the best way to control the blood sugar level. The advantage of including vegetables in one’s meal is bountiful. Here are some of the vegetables for diabetic menu that will fit in exactly:
Lettuce, broccoli, vegetable juice, spinach, peppers, carrots, green beans, tomatoes, celery, chilies, greens, cabbage are some of them.

Now there are some tips for you to select vegetables for your diabetic menu:

  • Do not stick to the same vegetable, try to have variety. There should be more intakes of dark green vegetables like kale, broccoli and orange vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin and squash.
  • You should include beans in your meal like black beans, split peas, pinto beans garbazo, and kidney beans. Muung beans are the best so make it a point to include it in your meal.
  • You can use some herbs and spices as a substitute to reduce the salt in your diabetic meal.
  • Avoid dressing or at least try the low-fat or fat free salad dressings.
  • Various studies have shown that vegetables like onion and garlic helps to reduce blood sugar level and so does the bitter gourd.

Prevention is better than cure, so just take care of your health by choosing a correct meal and including vegetables for diabetic meal.
