Sugar-Free Food For Diabetics
Filed Under (Diabetes Menu Plans) by admin

It is indispensable for a diabetic patient to follow a diabetes menu plan. Diabetes menu plan is crucial as it maintains the blood sugar level in normal range. It is very important to include sugar free foods in the diabetes menu plan. It may happen that you don’t found it tasty but it will be healthy, for sure. Sugar free foods are good as they prevent a diabetic patient from any further health complication like heart diseases etc. No doubt a diabetic have huge list of food items in which he do not need to ignore the sugar free foods, but still it is very much important to know what are the sugar free foods for which he can go.

A diabetic should eat whole- oat, soy, flour of wheat etc. There are monosaturated fats like olive oil and peanut oil which prevents heart diseases. Carb counting is another important factor which enables the diabetic to check his carbohydrate intake. It is also advised that the diabetic should look for the total grams of carbohydrates rather then  looking sugars only as he may miss out some nutrients like fibers and complex carbohydrates. This will lead to forego beneficial products like fruits and milk which are rich in sugar but also have fibers and complex carbohydrates in huge amount or cereals and grains which have high carbohydrate content but less count of sugar.

Sugar free food should not be misunderstood with the foods with high carbohydrate content. Sugar free foods have sugar alcohol which is commonly called as polyols. These polyols are neither sugars nor alcohols. These are the derived carbohydrates which are low-digestible. These are derived from hydrogenation of sugars such as lactitol is derived from lactose.  These polyols are used in various kinds of sugar-free foods to make their taste sweet. Now-a-days these are used in different kind of products like toothpastes, chewing gums, candies, ice creams and fruit spreads. >

The types of polyols used in sugar-free products are erythritol, sorbitol, mannitol, maltitol, isomalt, lactitol etc. These polyols are not as sweet as sugar. These are combined with low-calorie sweeteners like neotame, aspartame and sucralose.

It is always recommended to a diabetic patient to choose sugar free diabetes menu plan.
