Carbohydrates are essential part of our meals and are included in three basic food groups. Carbohydrate is an excellent source of energy. Though when you are diagnosed with diabetes, you are advised to cut down the carbohydrate intake. Carbohydrates are commonly found in starch and sugar. Basically there are two types of carbohydrates. Many diabetic get confused over the simple and complex carbohydrate terms. Simple carbohydrates are found in fruits, sweets, honey, soft drinks, and sugar. These sweet foods instantly boost your energy level. Your body digests these simple carbohydrates very quickly. The 2nd kind of carbohydrates is complex carbohydrates. Bread, rice, pasta, grains, nuts, whole grain foods and raw vegetables are called complex carbohydrate. Your liver digests carbohydrates by breaking them into glucose. Glucose converts into insulin and insulin is the basic ingredient in producing energy from your body cells. This glucose converts into energy and transfer into your muscles. If you reduce your required Simple carbohydrates consumption, your body will react and certain symptoms occur like headaches, nervous cramps, fatigue and nervous disorders. If you exceed from the required limit, too much glucose will be produced and stored in your liver. This glucose converts into energy and transfer into your muscles. Excessive glucose transforms into fats and store into your body parts. Approximately 45-70% of adult energy should be provided by carbohydrates. You must remember the basic rules of diabetic menu and prepare your meals accordingly. Simple carbohydrates provide fuel to your body and nervous system. Add small portions of lean meats and dairy products to have a wholesome benefit and complete nutrition from your meals. Keep a balance between all your favorite food groups and add required amount from every food group in your meals. Blood sugar level is associated with your eating habits so be very careful.
